EURO 2012: meeting on public order and security issues

Today, the meeting dedicated to public order and security has started in Kyiv. The event is arranged by UEFA and is chaired by Marc Timmer, head of UEFA department for stadiums and security, as well as Martin Kallen, UEFA Euro-2012 Chief Operating Officer. In the course of the meeting, UEFA experts will present the draft UEFA Euro-2012 Integrated Security and Public Order concept being developed by the tournament organizers in Ukraine and Poland.

Apart from the officials mentioned above, the meeting is attended by Ukrainian and Polish government officials, representatives of law enforcement bodies of the two countries, LOC Ukraine, LOC Poland, UEFA, etc.

When addressing the participants, UEFA Euro-2012 Tournament Director Ukraine Markiyan Lubkivsky stressed that today a new philosophy of relations is being shaped to introduce assistance, support, and mutual understanding between fans and the law enforcement bodies. In his words, the philosophy has to turn into a brand new system of relations between all the participants of sporting events, which is the main idea of the concept.

Markiyan Lubkivsky thanked UEFA experts for their assistance in implementation of novelties in the sphere of security and public order, namely at stadiums. He feels confident that the novelties will be employed not only during the Championship but also while staging other large scale sporting events in Ukraine.
